What is
A/B Testing?

Comparing two variants of a UI or experience by randomly assigning users to each.

Definition

A/B testing measures the impact of a change with statistical rigor. Half of users see version A, half see version B; the metric difference (conversion, retention, revenue) is measured. Done well, A/B testing produces real causal evidence. Done poorly (small samples, misread significance, peeking at results), it produces noise.

Example

A pricing page test of "Start free trial" vs "Get started free" buttons, run on 50k visitors, shows a 7% conversion lift.
