Figma was founded in 2012 by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace. The 2016 launch of Figma's real-time collaboration ended the Sketch era of design tools. By 2026, Figma is the global default for product design — used by virtually every modern company. The Adobe acquisition was blocked in 2023, and Figma has continued to expand into FigJam, Slides, and developer tooling.
