Definition

Frontier models represent the current state of the art in capability, cost, and capability ceiling. They are typically trained by the largest AI labs (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Meta) and define what's possible at any given moment. Most production AI apps either use frontier models directly or distill knowledge from them into smaller fine-tuned variants.

Example

As of 2026, Claude Opus 4.7, GPT-5, and Gemini 3 Ultra are widely considered frontier models.

How Vedwix uses Frontier Model in client work

We default to frontier models in early phases, then graduate to fine-tuned smaller models for production scale.
